At Construcía Instalaciones we aim to transform the installations sector towards a circular, resilient and healthy model. We are inspired by the principles of Cradle to Cradle and the Lean Construction methodology and apply them to the circular economy, thus creating our Lean2Cradle methodology. Thanks to our methodology we decouple economic growth from the massive consumption of raw materials, generating a positive impact on people and the environment.
Benefits of Circularity:
One of the pillars of Lean2Cradle® methodology is Lean Construction. It is a model focused on the optimization of the production process, with which it is possible to increase the efficiency and eliminate what does not contribute value.
Optimisation is achieved through the planning and coordination of all the work involved in a project. At the beginning of the project, a series of objectives are set and a plan is created that helps reduce risks and solve problems in a collaborative manner.
This is where the so-called Pull Sessions come into play, meetings in which all the relevant actors in the construction process participate, where the sequence of work and activities to be carried out within the worksite is organised. Data exchange is vital for a successful project and for this collaboration to be real, a solution is needed to create calendars with daily objectives and share them quickly and effectively. For this purpose, the tool Last Planner System is used, with which each task is specifically planned in time and form. In this way, it is possible to have an exhaustive control of the process and avoid risks and problems derived from the planning, economic or labour issues.
The collaborative work is developed by teams made up of selected manufacturers and installers trained in Lean2Cradle® (Cluster of Manufacturers and Suppliers).
Within Lean Construction, a collaborative planning is essential where transparency and cooperation between all the actors is the basis of the project. In Construcía Instalaciones we use BIM methodology to make it easy to access information and to reach all our collaborators, being able to give quick solutions to the possible inconveniences that may arise during the works.
Using prefabrication and pre-assembly techniques allows us to improve and optimise the construction processes and the quality of the results. In this way, we can increase the performance of the work and reduce completion times.
By having a HUB (logistics centre) in a location close to the construction site, we achieve “just in time” deliveries and avoid unnecessary storage of materials on site, thus also reducing completion times.
The second pillar of Lean2Cradle® methodology is the Cradle to Cradle approach. This paradigm is inspired by nature, it is a model where waste does not exist since everything is designed with the idea of how it can be dismantled and reused later.
We use healthy materials and products that can be reused indefinitely as nutrients for the biological cycle (returning to the soil) or as nutrients for the technical cycle (returning to industry).
Cradle to Cradle is based on 3 principles
With the C2C Certified we ensure that materials and products are free of toxins and harmful substances and we manage to improve the quality of the indoor air of the spaces.
Applying the principles of Cradle to Cradle in construction is a challenge, but at the same time it is an opportunity to do things right. The construction sector is one of the largest waste generators, accounting for 25-30% of waste in the European Union. We therefore believe that a change of model is needed to optimise the life of products and raw materials and minimise the production of waste.
